As summer winds down, many vacationers are planning their last trips between August and September. According to Expedia CEO Peter Kern, “Airlines [were] expected to be back to historic levels by August.” Whether you’re traveling to the Instagram-hot Amalfi Coast or planning a quiet, local getaway, there’s one essential item you should have in your toiletry bag: sunscreen.

Sunscreen — more specifically, SPF — has become one of the fastest-growing areas in skin care. Though sunscreen was created in 1938, it has recently gained popularity as consumers’ interest in healthier skin and body-care products includes an emphasis on sun care.

By 2029, the global sun-care market value is expected to grow to over $24 billion, according to research and analysis company Statista. As a result, brands from buzzy newbies like Vacation to heritage brands including Banana Boat are seeing an increase in revenue.

As gearing up for vacations is trending, we’ve compiled some of the hottest, and most effective, SPF products at every price point.
