In the latest body-care conversation, Glossy sat down with Dr. Muneeb Shah (@dermdoctor, 18.1 million TikTok followers), a board-certified dermatologist, TikTok health expert and founder of Remedy Skin, a clinically backed skin-care brand that launched in March. With Remedy Skin, Dr. Shah’s mission is to create efficacious products that solve some of the most common skin concerns, he said. And with his social media platform, Dr. Shah has built a community that makes talking about skin conditions and treatments less taboo.
Dr. Shah said his struggles with stubborn body acne and his brush with skin cancer have helped him connect with his community and clients on a deeper level. “Acne was the worst thing I suffered from. Then with my scar on my chest [from skin cancer], it’s something that has made me better appreciate what patients go through,” Dr. Shah told Glossy.
During his residency, which started during the pandemic, the “derm doctor” took to TikTok to post about his experience and share with his audience the helpful education he was receiving. As a result, over the last four years, Dr. Shah has been able to help thousands of people both in and out of the clinic.
Eventually, Dr. Shah noticed what he considered a gap in the market, which led him to create his own skin-care line. The brand’s hero product, Remedy for Body Bumps, which treats Keratosis Pilaris, has sold out twice. “When it comes to body [care], I’m always focusing on the problem-solution approach,” said Dr. Shah.
“Choosing the right products and then choosing them consistently over time probably is going to make the biggest difference,” Dr. Shah said.

“I alternate for my hair. I use a dandruff shampoo in the morning — I usually use Nizoral shampoo, which has ketoconazole. It’s a really good anti-dandruff agent and has a little bit of evidence that it can help with hair growth, as well. Then on alternating days, I use the Garnier Hair Filler system, which is this new system they created that has acid bonding in it. Then I go on to wash my face, and I use the Roc Vitamin C Gel Cleanser. It’s a nice, gentle cleanser that helps to remove anything on the skin. Then I move down to the rest of my body, and that’s when I use a traditional body cleanser — I really like the ones from Odele, when it comes to body, because I use so much cleanser to cover the entire surface area, and value is important to me and it’s important to my patients. … Sometimes I use the PanOxyl Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser on my back. I would lather the [irritated] areas, leave it on for about a minute or two to let that medicine kick in, and then wash it off. There’s some debate about the safety of benzoyl peroxide products right now, so if you’re somebody who’s concerned about that, an alternative would be using a salicylic acid cleanser with a 2% salicylic acid in it. … Every now and then, I’ll use benzyl peroxide or chlorhexidine on my armpits, because it’s really good at removing odor. … And then when I get out of the shower, I moisturize. I like the La Roche-Posay Lipikar Ap+ Moisturizer, and then I follow up with sunscreen. … I also can’t live without the Hanz de Fuko Claymation Styling Clay. Right after I shower, my hair is flat. This holds my hair in place. It’s been an effective product for me over the last 10 years, and it’s probably my most frequently repurchased product on Amazon. I’ve bought it over 60 times in the last 10 years.”
