This profile is part of the Glossy Pop Guide to Influencer-Founded Brands, covering the fashion, beauty and wellness companies started by people who built their careers on social media.  More from the series →

After spending a decade writing for publications including Vogue and The Wall Street Journal, Lindsay Silberman decided to move on from media in 2018. From that point on, she focused full-time on her blog and Instagram, which ultimately led to her becoming an entrepreneur. Silberman’s luxury candle brand, Hotel Lobby Candle, was inspired by her love for the smell of fancy hotel lobbies. Created during the first Covid wave, its aim is to give people a five-star hotel experience in their homes.

Who: Lindsay Silberman (Hotel Lobby Candle)

Platform: Instagram

What are you known for & how did you get your start?
I’m known for parlaying a decade-long career as a magazine editor into a successful business as both an influencer and brand founder.

What’s the brand: Candles [wellness]

Find it: HotelLobbyCandle.com, Neiman Marcus (online & in-store), Fast AF

Why did you decide to bring a brand into this crowded marketplace?
I knew the concept was something that would resonate with people, particularly those who love luxury travel and have an appreciation for fine fragrances and killer branding.

What makes the brand different?
Everything from the scents and the packaging to our reusable hand-painted vessels and the hotel-inspired concept. We include a hotel “room key” in each package that features burning instructions and tips on candle etiquette. Our candles are inspired by the scents inside high-end hotels around the world, and we like to think they give our customers the feeling of a five-star escape at home.

Fun fact: Our first launch sold out in 24 minutes, without any advertising or PR. It was promoted exclusively through my Instagram account.

Best seller: Signature
