Who: Babba Rivera (Ceremonia)
Platform & Following: Instagram (164K followers)
What are you known for & how did you get your start?
I became known through both my career and sense of style. I was an early employee at Uber and got listed on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in the field of marketing at age 25. I worked with unicorn brands while running my own brand marketing agency before launching Ceremonia.
What is it: Hair care
Find it: www.Ceremonia.com, Net-A-Porter
Why did you decide to bring a brand into this crowded marketplace?
There was an incredible void in the market for authentic representation of the Latinx community. In addition to being the biggest and fastest-growing minority, it’s also a demographic that spends 46% more on hair-care products than non-Hispanics, yet there weren’t brands authentically representing this group.
What makes the brand different?
The intersection of clean, high-performance formulas, mixed with its mission to celebrate the richness of the Latinx culture. Tapping into Latin American power plants and superfruits, working with Latinx talent in front and behind the camera, Ceremonia offers the very best of clean hair for all hair types through a modern and inspiring brand.
Fun fact to know?
I am one of only 58 Latinas to ever raise over $1M in venture funding. Ceremonia is on an exciting trajectory, experiencing 374% YoY growth and an average of 45% quarterly growth since launch.
