The 2022 Glossy Beauty Awards honor the brands and influencers setting the standard for marketing and business innovation across the beauty industry. This year’s finalists have shown how to effectively use influencer partnerships, social platforms and community engagement to drive brand loyalty. Concurrently, nominees have successfully made sustainability, emerging platforms and CSR core parts of their business.
Among this year’s entries, Byrdie showcased using social media and video to deliver consumers digestible, educational content and drive home its commitment to promoting inclusive, diverse beauty standards. The beauty and style website is nominated for Best Use of Instagram for using the platform to uphold its social media diversity pledge, making the account an inclusive inspiration board promoting content from creators of different skin tones, hair textures and gender identities. The company is also nominated for Best Use of Video for its Crowned video series, exploring the history and cultural significance of Black hairstyles.
Pangea Organics, which specializes in plant-based skin and body care products, is nominated for Best Sustainability Initiatives for creating and maintaining a culture and business that genuinely prioritizes sustainability. The brand recently launched a body care collection made with 100% plant-based bioactives and stored in fully sustainable packaging that is plastic-free and recyclable. Pangea Organics also sources its ingredients from more than 50 organic farms around the world and provides customers with complete transparency about the ingredients used in each product,
In the increasingly crowded field of beauty startups, skincare brand Indē Wild is a standout because of its unique use of Ayurvedic superfoods and its mission to empower, educate and advocate for people who struggle with common skin issues. Nominated for Best Breakthrough Beauty Startup, the brand, founded by Diipa Büller Khosla, is supported by an all-women board consisting of dermatologists, Ayurvedic doctors and practitioners, senior research and development experts and a Ph.D. student in chemistry. Within three months of launching with two SKUs on the market, Indē Wild has achieved a 21% customer retention rate with no marketing spend.
